When it comes to the question of why a musician makes the music they do, some artists just seem to aim higher than others. Take for instance, Jacob Tyler Lucas, who makes music carrying his message of staying present, patient, and positive to the people.
Lucas cites Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz, John Mayer, Damien Rice, and Raul Midon as influential forces in his sound, a chilled out arrangement consisting of acoustic guitar, bass, and drums. Some songs incorporate a Latin “feel” with contagious drum beats and innovative classical guitar leads.
J.T.L started out as a one man band (himself on acoustic guitar). Then, in 2008, Lucas picked up his long time friend Eric Straube on bass, and the young, talented Brett Litzler, on drums, to back him up.
In the desert full of heavy rock saturating the AZ music scene, coming with an overall negative vibe, J.T.L exists as a pleasant oasis, who says it’s "okay" to be happy.
